  • F.E.E.T. Fundamental Engine Electronics Training
  • S.T.E.P. System Training in Engine Performance
  • C.A.P.S. Computerized Automotive Performance Systems
  • F.I.S.T. Fuel Injection Systems Training
  • S.T.A.C. System Training in Air Conditioning
  • T.A.B.S. Training in Anti-lock Brake Systems

New York State A.T.T.P. courses @ RCC

F.E.E.T.
Fundamental Engine Electronics Training Prerequisite 2 years as a Technician This course covers: circuit design, wiring principals and use of electronic testing equipment. Armed with a diagnostic chart, a scope and a wiring diagram, the in-service technicians enrolled in F.E.E.T. get a hands on approach to industry-wide electrical testing, diagnostic and repair techniques. Offered Fall

S.T.E.P.
System Training in Engine Performance Prerequisite F.E.E.T. course and 2 years as a Technician STEP offers the in-service technician training in causes of excessive emissions and early fuel evaporative systems. Other essential areas covered in STEP include AIR injection reaction systems, fuel evaporation control systems, exhaust gas recirculation systems and catalytic converters. Offered immediately after F.E.E.T.

C.A.P.S.
Computerized Automotive Performance Systems Prerequisite S.T.E.P. and 2 years as a Technician This course is designed to provide automotive technicians the essential knowledge to be able to diagnose and repair computerized engine control systems. Emphasis is placed on such areas as sensors, actuators, and fuel management. Offered immediately after S.T.E.P.

F.I.S.T.
Fuel Injection Systems Training Prerequisite C.A.P.S. and 2 years as a Technician FIST teaches the technician how to understand modern fuel delivery systems works, and how to repair them. The course combines the necessary computer and electronic skills learned in the previous ATTP courses (CAPS, FEET, STEP) to cover the theory, diagnostics, and service procedure for both foreign and domestic manufacturers' fuel injection systems. Air, fuel and electronic management, along with their major components such as fuel injectors, filters and pumps are among the other essentials included in FIST. Offered immediately after C.A.P.S.

S.T.A.C.
Systems Training in Air conditioning Prerequisite 1 year as a Technician This course goes beyond minimum certification requirements of recharging, recovery and recycling by offering actual hands-on training in diagnosing and repairing A/C electrical and electronic components. Technicians enrolled in STAC use manifold gauge sets and vacuum pumps to test the performance and stabilization of A/C units. Offered Spring semester

T.A.B.S.
Training in Anti-lock Brake Systems Prerequisite 1 year as a Technician With the massive introduction of Electronics on the brake system, TABS aims to restore technician confidence and competency through focusing on the essentials of servicing the complete brake system. Areas covered in this course include disc and drum brake theory, hydraulic systems and power assist units. Specific types of Anti-lock brake systems (ABS) such as Bosch, Teves, and Kelsey-Hayes are described in detail and popular units are given hands on training. Offered Summers
