Earth Day Poetry Contest Winner

“Natural” Disaster

By: Phoebe Richiez

Nature is very much alive.
She speaks, breathes and moves,
very much like we do.
She is a life that cannot help but thrive.

Evolving and changing to the rhythm of time.
So organized, yet so unpredictable.
She fills the earth with color, so easily capable.

Yet, by the human touch, it was an unfair crime.
That her colors were stripped away,
and she never had a say.

Phoebe is a second-year student studying journalism. She is currently an intern for the College's newspaper RCC Outlook and has had work published in it in the past.
