Herbert Kurz Peace Garden

Dear Friends,

RCC is excited to announce the installation of the Herbert Kurz Peace Garden on our campus in Suffern, NY. This project came to fruition after discussions between Dr. Cliff L. Wood and Mr. Leonard Kurz on how a college campus can be a model for gathering individuals of vastly diverse backgrounds in a peaceful and productive way. The garden vision and design was led by Elisabeth Voigt Garden Design in collaboration with Jeffrey Hall, Architect, P.C. and incorporates a number of native species, in addition to other pollinator-friendly plants. The mission of the Peace Garden is to be

a place of reflection and tranquility. Dedicated to the values personified by Herbert Kurz, it symbolizes the College's commitment to encourage coexistence, establish an authentic peace, and prepare students to thrive in a global society that celebrates human diversity.

RCC’s Garden Dedication program offers you the opportunity to contribute to this innovative space, memorialize or honor a loved one, or mark a special milestone by dedicating one of its 42 garden benches or 26 native flowering dogwood trees. Your donation will be recognized on an attractive plaque on the bench or at the base of the tree that you have sponsored, and you will receive a signed certificate of commemoration. We hope that you will be inspired by this project and would like to invite you to the opening on June 29th at 4:00pm.

The garden design is pictured below. Please see the printable form to reserve your plaque on a bench or tree. Your generosity is greatly appreciated, and will leave an inspiring mark on the Rockland Community College campus for generations to come. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns at 845-574-4269.

Sincerely,

Elizabeth Kendall signature
