Visiting Research Professor to Give Talk On Prostate Cancer At SUNY Rockland Community College
Suffern, NY - To kick off the '07-'08 Science Lecture Series beginning next week at SUNY Rockland Community College, Dr. Mark Condon will speak on "Prostate Cancer: Carcinogenesis and Progression."
Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed non-skin cancer in U.S. males. Dr. Condon’s work involves the investigation of mechanisms of prostate cancer progression from early to late, clinically difficult, stages. He is interested in the significance of cell-to-cell communication during prostate cancer carcinogenesis. Using an in vitro system, his research focuses on how non-cancer cells in a malignant tumor may influence the cancerous cells. His presentation will include background information on cancer formation and progression, as well as the results of his current lab research.
Dr. Condon earned a B.S. degree from Montclair State College (Toxicology/Chemistry), and an M.S. and Ph.D. from New York University (Environmental Health Sciences/Toxicology). Currently, Dr. Condon serves as an Associate Professor of Biology at Dutchess Community College and as a Research Assistant Professor at New York University School of Medicine.
