Talk on How Diabetes Can Be Reversed Through a 30-Day Diet
at SUNY Rockland Community College

Suffern, NY - Two doctors and a diabetes patient will lecture at SUNY Rockland Community College about how their specially designed 30-day diet can reverse diabetes, allowing a patient to reduce or eliminate medication.

The co-authors of the new book, "The 30-Day Diabetes Miracle," will discuss how their low-fat, high-fiber, carb-heavy, plant based diet can lower body weight, blood sugar levels, cholesterol and blood pressure. Dr. Franklin House, Dr. Stuart A. Seale and RCC's Ian Blake Newman, Associate Professor of English and diabetic patient, will discuss the 30-day diet on Thursday, November 29 at 7:00 p.m. in the Ellipse in the Technology Center on the main campus in Suffern. Healthful refreshments will be served. Admission is free and open to the public.

The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention estimates that one in three children born in 2000 in the US will develop diabetes in their lifetime. Currently, 21 million Americans have diabetes while 41 million more are pre-diabetic. The founders of Lifestyle Center of America in Oklahoma and co-authors of, "The 30-Day Diabetes Miracle," believe their proven track record and scientific research demonstrates that a "miracle" or "cure" exists. Unchecked, diabetes kills. It causes one or more of the following: diminishing vision, pain in the extremities, amputations, kidney failure, heart attacks and more.

"One and a half million adults will be diagnosed in 2008 with diabetes (type-2), and most of them will have developed their chronic disease through food, a sedentary lifestyle, and other lifestyle choices under their control," said co-author Dr. House, chairman of the board for Lifestyle Center of America. "The good news is most of these individuals can take back their health through better choices. Though insulin is a must for those with type 1 diabetes, optimum health can be maintained with lower insulin requirements by following our program."

Co-author Ian Newman discovered the power of "lifestyle medicine" at the Lifestyle Center of America and is now its biggest booster. "I went from barely being able to climb the stairs in 2005, to summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2007," he said. "Since beginning the program three years ago, I've dropped 30 pounds, cut my insulin intake by more than half–which is why I was able to lose the weight; I came off my triglyceride drug and three other medicines, and feel great."

"Newman has enjoyed the type of remarkable results that our 3,000 other patients have experienced over the past decade," said Dr. Seale.
