SUNY Rockland Community College Attains Middle States Reaccreditation
Suffern, NY - SUNY Rockland recently completed the process of reaccreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education.
The Commission reaffirmed the College’s accreditation on March 8, 2007, and this year, on March 13, 2008, accepted a Monitoring Report it had requested that provided additional information.
The Commission requires institutions periodically to demonstrate that they meet the standards for accreditation. Through self-evaluation reports, institutions focus on formative reviews that guide improvement efforts. SUNY Rockland’s next report of this nature, the Periodic Review Report, is due in June 2012. The College's next full self-evaluation will be required in 2016-2017.
The Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools is a voluntary, peer-based, non-profit association dedicated to educational excellence and improvement through peer evaluation and accreditation. It is one of six regional accrediting organizations for higher education institutions recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the United States Department of Education. The Middle States Association is responsible for accrediting educational institutions in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands and other locations abroad.
