Design student, Vladimir Jean, received the Judges' Merit Award in Art from the CCHA for his cover art.

This is the ninth year Impulse has won an award. The 2009 issue was co-edited by Presidents Sheela George and Christina Autiero and Vice President Patrick Bergquist. Two student clubs, Art and Impulse, are primarily associated with the production of Impulsemagazine. David Pirell, adjunct faculty, Art, is the advisor to the Art club, which ran production and design, and Reamy Jansen, Professor, English, is the Impulse advisor.

Impulse is funded through student activities fees and has been publishing for more than 30 years. It has won several major awards from CCHA in writing, art, design and layout. The magazine is the work of designers, poets, photographers, painters, and writers. All students, part- and full-time are invited to submit their writing and artwork.
