No prior experience is necessary

Ramapo, NY - World renowned stage Fight Master, Richard Ryan, is a returning guest instructor at SUNY Rockland Community College this August.

The Performing Arts Department, Campus Players and the Rockland Shakespeare Company will present an intensive Stage Combat training course with Master Fight Director, Richard Ryan. The two-week course runs from August 16 - 28, 2010. The course is open to anyone in the community ages 18 and over. No prior experience is necessary.

Total Cost: $775

Submit application and $350 non-refundable deposit by July 16. The remainder, $425, is due on August 2.

Ryan will be mentoring the students in two forms of stage combat, Rapier & Dagger and Small Sword, as they strive for certification by the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD). This is a wonderful opportunity to work with one of the highest ranked professionals in the field of fight direction, and to gain insight and experience into one of the most under-appreciated art forms in the world.

Richard Ryan is a highly accomplished Fight Master whose most recent works include the blockbuster film, "Sherlock Holmes" with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law; "Batman: The Dark Knight"; "Troy," starring Brad Pitt; "The Last Legion," starring Sir Ben Kingsley; "Stardust," starring Robert DeNiro; and the epic New Line Cinema production of "The Golden Compass," part one of Philip Pullman's award winning His Dark Materials trilogy, starring Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig. Ryan is the only British Fight Master to hold Master status in the SAFD.

Applications are available through the Performing Arts Department. Call (845) 574 - 4471 or visit www.rocklandshakespearecompany.com
