Suffern, NY - World renowned stage Fight Master, J. David Brimmer, is a returning guest instructor at SUNY Rockland Community College this August.

The Performing Arts Department, Campus Players and the Rockland Shakespeare Company will present an intensive Stage Combat training course with Brimmer in a course that runs from Monday, August 10 - August 22. The course is open to anyone in the community ages 18 and over. No prior experience is necessary.

Total Cost: $750. Submit application and $350 non-refundable deposit by July 15. The remainder, $400, is due on July 30.

Brimmer will be mentoring the students in two forms of stage combat as they strive for certification by the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD). This is a wonderful opportunity to work with one of the highest ranked professionals in the field of fight direction, and to gain insight and experience into one of the most under-appreciated art forms in the world.

Brimmer is a highly accomplished Fight Master whose works include myriad Broadway productions, including: “Speed the Plow”; “Come Back, Little Sheba”; “Spring Awakening” and “The Lieutenant of Inishmore” as well as film and television, such as “Robin Hood” and dozens of Anime roles.

He is the creator and current instructor of the stage combat program at New York University's (NYU) Tisch School of the Arts, and has taught at The Meisner Extension, the Classical Studio, the Stella Adler Conservatory, the Lee Strasberg Institute, the Playwrights Horizons Theater School, Atlantic Theater Company, and the Yale School of Drama. He is a former President of the New York Fight Ensemble (NYFE) and a member of the Society of American Fight Directors, holding the title of “Fight Master.”
