Smooth Transition from Rockland Community College to Empire State College

RCC graduates can earn a bachelor's online and through independent study

Suffern, NY - To ensure a smooth transition from Rockland Community College (RCC) to the four-year Empire State College, an articulation agreement was signed on October 17.  Through the Pathways Articulation Agreement, graduates of RCC can earn a bachelor’s degree at Empire State College through independent study and online courses.

In the program, RCC graduates may take an additional 16 credits on the RCC campus while transitioning to upper-division courses at Empire State College. For example, a junior might take two RCC courses his or her first semester and three courses at Empire State College.

SUNY Rockland has articulation agreements with dozens of colleges. Transfer agreements were signed recently with Franklin University of Columbus, Ohio, Mount Saint Mary College of Newburgh, Kaplan University in Iowa, University of Phoenix, SUNY Binghamton, SUNY Stonybrook and Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry.  Rockland also has transfer agreements with Cornell University, NYU, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Pace University, Dominican College, St. Thomas Aquinas College, Ramapo College and many more.

Rockland Community College aims to keep all of our courses and programs up-to-date to meet the demands of four-year institutions," said Bill Baker, Vice President, Academic Affairs. "The integrity of course work at SUNY Rockland is widely respected."All candidates must complete their associate degree (A.A. A.S. or A.A.S.) requirements prior to participating in this program.

Empire State College offers motivated adults the opportunity to earn associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees. Through a combination of face-to-face meetings with faculty, online courses and small study groups, students can learn anytime and anywhere. They also earn credit for college-level learning from work and life.
