Suffern, NY - Eight retired SUNY Rockland Community College professors will be honored at a reception for attaining the status of "Professor Emeritus."

Those named Professor Emeritus will retain their RCC titles along with certain campus privileges. They will be honored on Wednesday, August 29, 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Cultural Arts Center Atrium.

The following were appointed Professor Emeritus:

Phyllis Krasnow, Professor of Science

Theodore Sakano, PhD, Professor of Science

Martin Schwartz, PhD, Professor of Business

Michael Sentlowitz, Professor of Math

The Rockland Community College Board of Trustees considers Professor Emeritus status for candidates who are or who have been a full professor (either retired or deceased). The nominations were judged by the following criteria:

  1. Length of service to institution
  2. Academic leadership in the discipline
  3. Excellence in performance of the assigned professional responsibilities
  4. Services contributed to the College, community, and one’s profession

Nominations for Professor Emeritus are made every three years.
