Center for Personal & Professional Development Hosts First "Open Mike Night for Writers" at Rockland Community College
Writers ranged from students to senior citizens
Suffern, NY - Writers of all genres and ages networked and read their work at the first "Open Mike Night" hosted by the Center for Personal & Professional Development (CPPD) at Rockland Community College on December 8.
Writers shared everything from poetry to memoirs and published authors made their books available for sale. Oscar White, an editor of the magazine, Still Kickin’, and author of a book about his work photographing U.S. presidents and celebrities, told the audience he was looking for submissions to his magazine. Other writers included an RCC student who introduced his poetry by saying he had grown up on the streets and a retired dentist from Monsey who shared an unusual answer to a prayer in his short story.
If you are at least 55-years-old and would like to make a submission to Still Kickin’, the literary magazine sponsored by RCC’s Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), e-mail Gerri Zabusky, Director, at gzabusky@sunyrockland.edu
