Occupational Therapy Assistant Program Moves From Spring Valley to the Suffern Campus of
SUNY Rockland Community College
Suffern, NY - Renovations to the SUNY Rockland Community College Academic I building have have enabled the Occupational Therapy Assistant Program to move from Spring Valley to the main campus in Suffern.
"The program will benefit greatly from the move because the students will have easy access to all the services of the Suffern campus," said past Program Coordinator, Ellen Spergel.
The Occupational Therapy Assistant Program recently completed a rigorous reaccreditation process for the American Occupational Therapy Association. Following a visit to the campus, the American Occupational Therapy Association granted the RCC program a full seven-year accreditation.
Graduates of the RCC Occupational Therapy Assistant Program are prepared at the technical level to enter occupational therapy practice. They may go directly into practice in hospitals, schools, nursing homes and day treatment settings. They may also continue their education in a professional program. By majoring in biology, psychology, education or gerontology at the bachelor's level for example, a graduate may enter a master's degree program in Occupational Therapy.
