New Student Trustee at SUNY Rockland Community College
Suffern, NY - Honors student Andrew C. Newmark ‘10 of Airmont was elected by his fellow students to be the Student Representative to Rockland Community College’s Board of Trustees for the 2009-2010 academic year. He took office on June 1
Trustee Newmark, who was a Freshman Senator on the Student Government Association in 2008-2009, served on several Student Government Association Committees including Blood Drive, Publicity & Elections, Public Safety, Campus Improvements, Oversight and the Constitution Committees.
Andrew has been active in community service, particularly in fundraising for several causes including the homeless, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Campus Fun and Learn Center, RCC Food Cupboard and American Cancer Society. Newmark enjoys Wrestling, Track and Football, all sports in which he participated at the Junior Varsity or Varsity level.
An outstanding student, Newmark is in the Sam Draper Mentor Talented Student Honors Program as well as being a member of the Phi Theta Kappa and National History Honors Societies. Newmark received an RCC Outstanding Student Service Award for 2008-2009 and from the RCC Foundation, he received a Student Government Association Scholarship and the Eugene Cameron Memorial Scholarship.
