New Jewish Life Studies Faculty Member Joins SUNY Rockland Community College
Suffern, NY - The popular Jewish Life Studies course, "Contemporary Jewish Issues," offered at SUNY Rockland Community College since last year, will be taught by Edwin (Yisroel) Susskind, Ph.D., beginning with the Fall 2007 semester. The 3-credit course is held on Mondays and Wednesdays, 1:00-2:15 pm.
"Contemporary Jewish Issues" examines a variety of philosophical, ethical, social, and political issues, including medical-ethical dilemmas, anti-Semitism in America, the question, "Who is a Jew?" and the roles of women in contemporary society. The course, RLS 252, is under the Humanities division, Religious Studies discipline.
Dr. Susskind is a psychologist in private practice in Monsey. He also serves as Supervising Psychologist, Kiryas Joel School District, in Monroe. He holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Yale University and a bachelor’s in psychology from Columbia College. He previously served as a full-time graduate school faculty member at SUNY Buffalo, Hebrew University, Jerusalem and University of Maryland.
In-person registration is available at the Registrar in the Technology Center. Currently enrolled students can also register on the web. The course is open to full-time RCC students as well as to members of the community and senior adult audits. The first class will meet on Wednesday, September 5. Late registration continues through September 10. Tuition is $133 per credit for in-state residents.
