More than $30,000 Raised For Scholarships at the
24th Annual Rockland Community College Foundation Golf Outing
Suffern, NY - The Rockland Community College Foundation raised more than $30,000 in scholarship funds at their 24th Annual Golf Outing, held on August 14, at Spook Rock Golf Course in Suffern. More than 160 golfers from businesses across Rockland County took part in the event.
At the outing, the Foundation selected Howard Hellman, Chairman of All Bright Electric in West Nyack, as “Person of the Year” for his service to the Foundation, College and community. Hellman graduated RCC in 1972 and serves as President of RCC’s Alumni Association, where he creates a sense of pride and identification with SUNY Rockland. Hellman recently donated a scoreboard with its installation, valued at more than $30,000, to the College Fieldhouse.
"The annual golf outing is a signature event of the Foundation. Not only do participants enjoy a great day of golf, they truly help an important community institution and the students who rely on it," said Don Cairns, Executive Director of the Foundation.
Since its inception in 1982, the Foundation has awarded more than $1.8 million in scholarships to students for scholastic excellence and/or financial need. Last year, the Foundation awarded more than $200,000 in scholarships. The Foundation also assists and enhances the academic programs of the College.
