International Students at SUNY Rockland Community College Enjoy Thanksgiving Luncheon

Suffern, NY - SUNY Rockland Community College will host its 20th Thanksgiving Luncheon for International Students on Wednesday, November 14, at noon, in the Student Union, rooms 3114 and 3214, on the main campus in Suffern.

The luncheon provides 200 international students, representing 50 countries, an opportunity to learn about American customs and share in the Thanksgiving tradition. This year the biggest representation of international students at the College is from Asia, especially Japan (more than 60 students). New countries represented this year include Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Latvia, Bosnia and Uzbekistan.

The event is geared specifically to students who have come here from abroad to study, rather than students who have emigrated to the U.S. A full turkey dinner, prepared by students in the College’s Hospitality Program, will be accompanied by a folk singer.

The holiday fare is provided by funds from Paragon Federal Credit Union.

For further information, contact Maria Dell’Arciprete, Coordinator of International Student Services, at (845) 574-4263 or Kim Sojak at 845-574-4527.

Rockland Community College, a unit of the State University of New York, is located 25 miles northwest of NYC. The majority of its students transfer to four-year colleges, and many find immediate employment upon earning their associate's degree or certificate. The College also offers others, from preschoolers to senior citizens, the opportunity to simply learn something new. Quality education...at a price you can afford.
