For those interested in considering learning new skills in the "green" energy technologies, the Center for Professional & Professional Development (CPPD) is holding an informational session to discuss the emerging job market and the courses being offered beginning in March.

New types of work are or will be opening up in job categories as diverse as building energy analyst, insulation contractor, heating/cooling technician, electrician, lighting designer, architect, transportation planner, vehicle mechanic, engineer, green roof installer or by bringing your skills in finance, marketing,  management or support services to the clean energy companies of the Hudson Valley.

Barbara Reer, Program Manager, Clean Energy Technology Training, Continuing and Professional Education, SUNY Ulster, will be on hand to answer questions about course prerequisites, costs, materials, and other class details.

Pat Courtney Strong, Mid-Hudson Energy $mart, will provide an overview of NYSERDA's incentives to building owners for renewable energy.

James Albert, founder and President of ISI Solar, a Rockland based firm that designs and installs solar electric and solar thermal energy systems, will discuss his experience and growth prospects for the industry.

Melissa Everett, executive director of Sustainable Hudson Valley and author of the award-winning book, "Making a Living While Making a Difference," will describe the newly created CETT Resource Center, and offer brief 1:1 support for job-changers wanting to explore ways to bring their values into the workplace.

This program, with funding assistance from the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority, has been developed by a consortium of five community colleges from the Mid-Hudson Valley, which includes Ulster, Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan and Rockland Community College, and is coordinated by SUNY Ulster's Continuing Education and Public Programs.
