Community invited to help!

Suffern, NY - The community is invited to participate with the Rockland Community College Environmental Club to pick up litter along College Road for Great American Cleanup (GAC).

Volunteers should meet at the sign in table, which will be in the faculty/staff parking lot next to the College Road entrance to the Suffern campus on Tuesday, April 6, 12:30 – 4:30 p.m. The GAC organizers will provide lunch and the cleaning materials necessary for the two-mile cleanup work along College Road.

The RCC Environmental Club adopted the 1.9 mile stretch of College Road between Route 59 and Viola Road through the Adopt-a-Road Program.

Great American Cleanup is a nationwide program with a goal of community beautification and improvement. The Keep Rockland Beautiful organization runs the GAC initiative in Rockland County

Last year, more than 30 students, faculty, staff, and community members participated in the Great American Cleanup along College Road. They collected more than 25 bags of trash and recyclables.

Rockland Community College, a unit of the State University of New York, is located 25 miles northwest of NYC. The majority of its students transfer to four-year colleges, and many find immediate employment upon earning their associate's degree or certificate. The College also offers others, from preschoolers to senior citizens, the opportunity to simply learn something new. Quality education...at a price you can afford.
