Freshman Scholarship Recipients Recognized by Rockland Community College Foundation
Suffern, NY - Freshman scholarship recipients from a variety of backgrounds were recognized by the Rockland Community College Foundation Scholarship Committee at a reception held on September 18.
Academic scholarships winners included Tibetan honors student Yexi Lamao from Rockland Country Day School, and athletic scholarship winners included Pete Lompado, a top baseball player recruited from Shattuck-St. Mary's School, a prep school in Faribault, Minnesota. Lamao received a two-year, full-tuition scholarship and Lompado received a one-year, half-tuition scholarship.
Since its inception in 1982, the Foundation has awarded almost $2 million in scholarships to students for scholastic excellence and/or financial need. Last year, the Foundation awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships and student support. The Foundation also assists and enhances the academic programs of the College.
