Rockland Community College Foundation Board Welcomes Walter C. Fiedler

Ramapo, NY - Walter C. Fiedler, a retired 30-year New York City educator, has joined the Rockland Community College Foundation Board.

Fiedler, a former Performing Arts adjunct faculty member at the College, also taught Performing Arts to senior citizens through RCC’s Center for Personal & Professional Development. He still performs at the College with RCC’s Rockland Shakespeare Company.

Active in community service, Fiedler said, "I appreciate the College and its role in providing young people a chance to enrich their lives and contribute to the community."

Fiedler of New City is First Vice-President of the RCC Senior Club, a member of the Nanuet Senior Club and is former captain of the Nanuet Community Ambulance, where he founded the Nanuet Ambulance Youth Corps and was named Corps Person of the Year. Fiedler is also a counselor for the American Cancer Society.

An actor, Fiedler is a member of Elmwood Playhouse, Antrim Playhouse and Music Makers, a group sponsored by RCC's Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP).

Rockland Community College, a unit of the State University of New York, is located 25 miles northwest of NYC. The majority of its students transfer to four-year colleges, and many find immediate employment upon earning their associate's degree or certificate. The College also offers others, from preschoolers to senior citizens, the opportunity to simply learn something new. Quality education...at a price you can afford.
