Former Sudanese Slave Will Speak at Free Your Mind Week at SUNY Rockland Community College
Suffern, NY - A former slave from the Sudan, break dancers, a motivational speaker, and a panel discussion will help the community celebrate Free Your Mind Week at SUNY Rockland Community College.
Presentations will run from Monday, October 27 - Thursday, October 30. All activities are free and open to the public, but tickets are required.
Monday, October 27, Noon – 1 p.m.
Student Union, room 3214
Panel Discussion: "Who Will Be the Next President of the United States?" We will have a discussion concerning the upcoming presidential election. The discussion will concentrate on the economy.
Tuesday, October 28, 12:30- 1:30 p.m.
Cultural Arts Theater
"Bringing Out Your Best," presented by Scott Greenberg, an expert on motivation, resilience and peak performance. His program combines rich content with humor, stories and interaction, thus ensuring the audience will have a great time while acquiring tools needed to live and work at their best.
Wednesday, October 29, 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.
Cultural Arts Theater
"21St Century Slavery: Living Proof," presented by Simon Deng, a freed slave, who will share his experience as a slave in the Sudan. As a follow-up, a panel discussion about modern day slavery will take place on Wednesday, November 5, 1:00 p. m., Student Union, room 3214.
Thursday, October 30, 12:30 – 1:30 p.m.
Cultural Arts Center Theater
USA Break Dancers. This Bronx based group will amaze you with their moves and make you laugh with their banter.
