Entrepreneurial Business Plan Competition at SUNY Rockland Community College
Area High School and College Students Compete for $1,000
Suffern, NY - Area high school and college students will present their entrepreneurial ideas at a first of its kind business plan competition to be held at SUNY Rockland Community College.
The competition is designed to give students the opportunity to experience planning an entrepreneurship in both written and oral presentation formats. The schools established teams that developed a business plan and PowerPoint presentation for a business that the team believes would succeed in Rockland County.
The New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, Rockland County Chapter, and the Rockland Community College Business Department will co-host the competition for area high school and college students, in two separate categories, on Friday, December 7, 9:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. in the Technology Center on the main campus in Suffern.
Each winning team will receive the grand prize, $1,000, which is funded by the New York Society of Certified Public Accountants, Rockland Chapter. Mr. Mitchell Gusler, CPA, will present the prizes.
Judges will base their decisions upon a prescribed set of criteria as outlined in the New York State Small Business Development Center, "A Practical Guide to Preparing Your Business Plan." The event will end with the special guest speaker, Dufresne Nicholas, Vice President of Morgan Stanley, who will be presented with a Leadership Award by Dr. Cliff L. Wood, President of Rockland Community College. In addition, representatives from the College community and the M/TS and MgD Honors programs will be present.
