Distinguished Faculty Lecture at SUNY Rockland Community College
Suffern, NY - The SUNY Rockland Community College Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) presents their Fall '09 Distinguished Faculty Lecture Series. Admission is free and open to the public.

Wilma Frank, Chair/Professor, Speech, will examine the elusive thing called "language." She'll explore the components of language; some historical and contemporary theories of its origin; and possible future areas of inquiry: animal communication, universal grammar and development and extinction of languages.
Frank has been recognized as a distinguished educator. She co-authored the textbook, "What Did You Say? A Guide to American Speech." with Judy Siegelbaum. In addition, Frank has worked in speech pathology and on educational radio for WNYC. She consulted for the American Management Association, Lederle Laboratories, CIBA Geigy, and Orange & Rockland Utilities as well as for the Rockland Psychiatric Center, the Rockland Fire and Police Training Center, and many others.
