DeCicco Family Markets Donates 2% of Sales to Fund Scholarships Through
the Rockland Community College Foundation

Suffern, NY - The DeCicco brothers, co-owners of DeCicco Family Markets, will donate 2% of sales to the Rockland Community College scholarship program when customers present the new DeCicco Family Markets/SUNY Rockland Community College Preferred Customer Card at the checkout counter.

All three brothers, John, Joe and Frank DeCicco, have ties to the College. John DeCicco of West Nyack currently serves on the Foundation Board. His wife Marie taught classes at the College and he took computer classes there. Having received an associate’s degree from a community college in the Bronx before transferring to a four-year college, John feels passionate about supporting his local community college with the proceeds from his family-owned store. “The College serves the whole community and we’re a community store—we go hand in hand.”

Joe DeCicco of New City is the proud father of Regina DeCicco who graduated from the College’s Honors program in 1998. Regina transferred to Barnard College of Columbia University where she earned her bachelor’s degree. After working several seasons for Saturday Night Life, Regina is now pursuing a career as a screenwriter.

Frank DeCicco of New City also has a history with the College. His wife, Nancy, earned her associate’s in accounting several years ago as a returning adult student.

In business since 1973, DeCicco Family Markets has a unique décor reminiscent of an outdoor marketplace. One large painting on the wall shows the Italian beach where the family lived before immigrating to the U.S. in 1958. DeCicco Family Markets has stores in New City, Scarsdale, Pelham, Bronxville, Ardsley, and Jefferson Valley.

In addition to donating 2% of sales to the Rockland Community College Foundation, the DeCicco’s also fund a scholarship at the College for a student who has recently arrived in the U.S and plans to study in the food service industry.

Since its inception in 1982, the Foundation has awarded almost $2 million in scholarships to students for scholastic excellence and/or financial need. Last year, the Foundation awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships and student support. The Foundation also assists and enhances the academic programs of the College.

For the Foundation to receive the 2% donation of sales from DeCicco Family Markets, customers need to show their DeCicco Family Markets/SUNY Rockland Community College Preferred Customer Card at the checkout. To receive the card, visit the DeCicco Family Markets New City location or contact Don Cairns, Executive Director of the Foundation, at (845) 574-4576 or dcairns@sunyrockland.edu.
