Veterans’ Affairs Seminar Teaches Rockland Community College
Employees How to Create Veteran Friendly Campus

Ramapo, NY - The Rockland Community College Veterans Support Services Committee is inviting faculty and staff to a seminar given by the New York State Division of Veterans' Affairs to learn how to better serve and retain veteran students.

April 21, 2010, 9 – 11 a.m.

"Creating a Veteran Friendly Campus"

Technology Center, Room 8180 (Ellipse)

The New Your State Division of Veterans' Affairs is coming to Rockland Community College to educate faculty and staff on how to make the campus "Veteran Friendly."

By educating staff and students on the benefits and services available to veterans, their dropout rate will be curtailed because they will be connected to all that is available to them. For more information, contact Jerry Vitale, Admissions Office, at (845)574-4390 or gvitale@sunyrockland.edu

In addition, the New York State Division of Veterans' Affairs will be partnering with the Vietnam Veterans of America, several state, federal, and local agencies, to hold a Veterans Benefits Checkup for Veterans 55 and older at the College beginning at 1:00 p.m. and followed by a benefits fair ending at 4:00 p.m.. Veterans and family members who wish to attend this free event should register either on the New York State Division of Veterans' Affairs website at www.veterans.ny.gov or via phone at 518-474-6114.

Rockland Community College, a unit of the State University of New York, is located 25 miles northwest of NYC. The majority of its students transfer to four-year colleges, and many find immediate employment upon earning their associate's degree or certificate. The College also offers others, from preschoolers to senior citizens, the opportunity to simply learn something new. Quality education...at a price you can afford.
