College's Newly Launched RCC-TV Holds First Ever Video Competition

SUNY Rockland Community College's Newly Launched RCC-TV Holds First Ever Video Competition

Media professionals will announce winners of student-produced videos ranging from comedies to public service announcements about HIV/AIDS and teen pregnancy

 

Suffern, NY - Media professionals will announce the winners of 21 student-produced videos at SUNY Rockland Community College's first RCC-TV Video Festival.

 

Videos ranging from 60 sec. - 10 min. will be viewed and winners announced on April 29, 7:00 p.m. at the Technology Center, Room 8180 (Ellipse), Rockland Community College, 145 College Road, Suffern.

 

The audience will see original music videos that focus on topics such as getting students interested in voting and the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, to public service announcements covering HIV/AIDS and teen pregnancy.

 

RCC-TV and the Performing Arts Department are co-producing this ground-breaking evening. The videos will be shown by categories, which include: Public Service Announcement, Short Film, Music Video, Commercial, Documentary, Comedy, and Animation. The winner from each category will be presented with a trophy and a $50 Apple gift card. The best video overall will win a LCD HDTV.

 

Freshmen to returning adults, with majors ranging from Communication Media Arts to Computer Information Systems, submitted the videos to the competition. Students from the Data Base Design and Computer Concepts/Application classes participated by creating the judges' scoring sheets and the Festival nominee database.

 

Janice T. Goldstein '83, Coordinator, Video & Television Productions, Multi-Media Production Center and Producer/Director of the Festival, said, "Our students have been given an amazing opportunity. Their work will be seen by their peers and judged by media professionals."
