SUNY Rockland Community College Presents "Secrets Behind Facebook and MySpace"
Suffern, NY— SUNY Rockland Community College invites the community to a seminar exploring the secrets behind Facebook and MySpace, the popular social Internet networks.
The College will host a three-part seminar, "Secrets Behind Facebook and MySpace," on March 11. The public is invited to the 2:00- 3:30 p.m. session in the Technology Center, Ellipse (room 8180). Admission is free.
The seminar covers protection from identity theft and predators, marketing to potential employers, creating useful connections between students and faculty, and getting more value out of your college experience.
Online social networking is more popular than television among high school and college students. But people of all ages who log onto sites like Facebook and MySpace on a daily basis are often unaware of the far-reaching effects of their online presence. Beyond seemingly fun and innocuous social activities, one’s online identity can make an indelible impact on college admission and employment.
Presentations will be made to employees, the entire student body and community, and student leaders. The seminar is presented by Swift Kick, an education company whose mission is to increase student engagement through leadership, technology and community.
The seminar is organized by The Office of Student Involvement, Debra Balestra, Director. For more information, call 845-574-4394.
