SUNY Rockland Community College Hosts a Great American Cleanup Event
Along College Road
Community invited to help!
Suffern, NY - The community is invited to participate with the Rockland Community College Environmental Club to pick up litter along College Road for Great American Cleanup (GAC).
Volunteers should meet at the sign in table, which will be in the faculty/staff parking lot next to the College Road entrance to the Suffern campus on Saturday, April 18, 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. The GAC organizers will provide a free lunch and the cleanup materials necessary for the projected work along College Road.
The RCC Environmental Club adopted the 1.9 mile stretch of College Road between Route 59 and Viola Road through the Adopt-a-Road Program and hope to have it litter-free for the "Adopt-a-Road" ceremony on Thursday, April 23.
Great American Cleanup is a nationwide program with a goal of community beautification and improvement. The Keep Rockland Beautiful organization runs the GAC initiative in Rockland County.
Last year, more than 30 students, faculty, staff, and community members participated in the Great American Cleanup along College Road. They collected more than 30 bags of trash and recyclables in addition to a dishwasher, a washing machine, and several old rusty chairs.
