College Celebrates Earth Day with the Great American Clean-up and Information Fair

SUNY Rockland Community College Celebrates Earth Day with the "Great American Clean-up" and Information Fair

Community invited

 

Suffern, NY - SUNY Rockland Community College students and faculty will clean up College and Viola Road and host an information fair in honor of Earth Day. Last year volunteers removed a staggering amount of garbage that included halves of cars, a refrigerator, an old hydraulic cylinder, and more than a hundred 33 gallon bags filled with trash.

Saturday, April 19, 10 a.m.

"The Great American Cleanup"

Community invited to help.

Rockland Community College, parking lot adjacent to the Technology Center, 145 College Road, Suffern, NY. Will begin with refreshments, then students, faculty, staff, and other volunteers will disperse along College and Viola Roads and the surrounding woods and streams to remove trash. Light refreshments served at the end.

Earth Day Information Fair

Event is free and open to the public.

Rockland Community College, outside near the Library (in the event of rain, Fieldhouse), 145 College Road, Suffern, NY. Vendors with environmentally friendly products (e.g. auto dealers with hybrids) and local environmental groups will be represented. Event includes a DJ, a live raptor show, games and a raffle. Food prepared by College Hospitality Program students and available for $5.00 per plate. In order to cut down on waste, hard plastic, dishwasher safe reusable water bottles will be available for sale.
