College Appoints New Director and Assistant of Disability Services

 

SUNY Rockland Community College Appoints New Director
and Assistant of Disability Services

 

Suffern, NY - SUNY Rockland Community College has appointed Raynette Hollowell to the position of Director of Disability Services and Carmen Diaz to the administrative position of Assistant Director of Disability Services, effective September 1, 2009.

 

Raynette Hollowell provides leadership to the College by promoting compliance with federal and state regulations regarding access for students with disabilities. Her duties include ensuring that qualified students with disabilities have equal access to all institutional programs, working with students and their families to assure the student’s success, and working closely with Admissions to recruit students with disabilities.

 

Since 2002, Hollowell of Brooklyn served as Director, Office of Disability Services at Baton Rouge Community College in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she was also Veterans Counselor/Advisor and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance Officer. From 2000-2002, she was the Assistant Athletic Director/Director of Academic Advising/Senior Woman Administrator at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

 

Hollowell has a Master of Science degree in Counselor of Education from San Diego State University in San Diego, California and a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology/Psychology from California State University in Fullerton, California.

 

Carmen Diaz reports to the Director of Disability Services and is responsible for the establishment, coordination, and provision of programs, services and accommodations to promote and ensure great access to students with disabilities at the College and community.

 

Since 2007, Diaz, a resident of Pomona, served at Lehman College Counseling Center in New York as College Counselor/Supervisor and prior to that, was the Child & Adolescent Unit Administrator at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

 

Diaz has a Master of Science degree in Social Work from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in Psychology from New York University.
