Suffern, NY - Thirty new workshops and courses, ranging from computers to environmental conservation, are offered by SUNY Rockland's Center for Personal & Professional Development (CPPD) this Spring semester. For course listings, visit and click on the category of interest on left. Printed catalogs are available by mail by calling 845-574-4151.


The CPPD offers professional training and life enrichment opportunities for children, adults and seniors.


Prospective instructors interested in teaching a course can access the website and easily find the section on the navigation bar to Suggest or Teach a Workshop. 


Popular courses include Real Estate Sales (begins February 2), SAT Preparation (begins March 1), English as a Second Language (begins January 26), ServSafe  (begins February 7), Photoshop (begins January 5), QuickBooks  (begins January 10), Windows (begins February 12 )and Tax Update and Review (January 4). The Academy for Gifted and Talented Kids begins March 28.


New course offerings include How to Build a Fun and Profitable Home-Based Business; Dance Series Workshop; De-Mystifying Green Building; Memory Shock: Training You’ll Remember; Firm, Tone and Lose Weight; Manage your attitude--Manage your life; Effective Parenting; The American President; and Improve your English.


The Center’s clients include those from the community looking to improve their personal and/or work skills, businesses that contract with the College for specific training for their workforce, and programs specific to the healthcare industry.


Courses are offered on the main campus in Suffern, the Haverstraw and Spring Valley Extension Centers, and many off-campus venues.
