Suffern, NY - The SUNY Rockland Performing Arts Department and Campus Players, in conjunction with the Suffern Junior Woman's Club, raised $7,035 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) from the March 29 benefit performance of "Grease."
Patty Maloney-Titland, Chair/Professor, Performing Arts, offered to donate the proceeds of the benefit performance to JDRF under the team called, "Carter's Club," which is named after four-year-old Carter Peligri of Stony Point, who was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at the age of 17 months.
Maloney-Titland said, "This was truly a remarkable, collaborative effort to raise awareness of the fight against Juvenile Diabetes. I am exceptionally proud of how the College, the Performing Arts department and our students continue to serve and give back to the community and to those in need."
Jeanette Kunow, President, Suffern Junior Woman's Club, said, "We were so excited to raise more than $7,000 in ticket sales. The theater was packed! The community really came out in support of their neighbors and friends who are struggling with this disease. We appreciate the College's willingness to give up the proceeds from the matinee performance to assist in our fundraising efforts."
"The money raised is a true testament to the support the families have in the community," said Doug Rouse, Executive Director, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Northern NJ-Rockland County Chapter.
