Intended Audience: Community groups, high school students, college students, teachers

Abstract: Possible subjects include an introduction to basic concepts in women’s and gender studies, an introduction to LGBTQIA (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, asexual/ally) issues. Special topics may be requested. Topics can be done in a workshop format.

About the Speaker: Andrew T. Jacobs, Professor, Speech, is co-authoring an introductory college text in women’s and gender studies to be published by Oxford University Press. He co-developed the introductory women’s and gender studies class at RCC (PDA 201: Women, Men, Sex and Power) and has taught it for over 15 years. Jacobs earned his BA in Philosophy from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY; and his MA in Speech Communication from Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY.
