Intended Audience: Teens and adults interested in Jewish heritage

Abstract: An Australian native shares stories and lessons from three years traveling around Australia connecting and reconnecting isolated Jewish people with their heritage, in such far flung locales as Cairns, Darwin, Blairgowrie and Townsville.

About the Speaker: Rabbi Dov Oliver, a native of Australia, is the Director of the Center for Jewish Life/Hillel in the College’s Religious Life Office. The Center for Jewish Life provides Jewish educational, cultural and social programs for the benefit of the entire College community, and plays an important role in RCC’s efforts towards enrollment and retention of students from Rockland's large Jewish community. Prior to relocating to Rockland County, Rabbi Oliver directed a Jewish outreach organization in the outback. He prepared for the rabbinate in Melbourne, Montreal and Israel.
