Abstract: From the earliest times, our ancestors expressed themselves by drawing in the dust on the cave floor. At the present time, the Computer Aided Design (CAD) has become a strong tool in design and manufacturing processes. Design Engineers are deploying the latest software and hardware to create realistic 3D solid models, which allows them to analyze the form and the fit of a design prior to any prototyping phase. The CAD approach already has been producing important benefits for manufacturers with the aim of reducing research and development time and improving the quality in product development.

About the Speaker: Saeed Safaie is a Professor of Science and teaches Math, Physics and Engineering. He has published several engineering articles and received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (2001) and the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Faculty Service (2008). Safaie earned a BSE in Manufacturing from New Jersey Institute of Technology; an MS in Managerial Economics from Rutgers University, NJ; and an MA in Physics from SUNY New Paltz.
