What Causes Cholesterol to Rise: A Functional Nutrition Perspective

Abstract: It is commonly believed that elevated levels are linked to the development of heart disease, necessitating the use of medications to bring levels into normal range. But cholesterol is an extremely important component of good health, and to simply lower levels through artificial means does not explain why it is elevated and what factors are related to abnormal levels. Several nutritional causes of hypercholesterolemia are explored including their biochemical pathways.

She earned a BA in Special Education from Jersey City State College, Jersey City, NJ; an MA in Education from Hunter College, New York City, NY; a DTR from Rockland Community College, Suffern, NY; and an MS in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, CT.
