Intended Audience: First and second year college students, students majoring in health care and/or pre-med

Abstract: There are many different dietary recommendations. So how does someone choose the right diet plan? Functional Nutrition is an understanding of how the presence or absence of a substance in a food determines how the body uses that food. Coupled with the factors that determine why certain food choices are better than others, Functional Nutrition gives a clear blueprint of what foods to focus on and why in order to use food as medicine to prevent, minimize or resolve a variety of chronic health conditions.

About the Speaker: Gina Liberti, MS, DTR, MS ED, adjunct faculty, Science, is Dietetic Technology Registered. She earned a BA in Special Education from Jersey City State College, Jersey City, NJ; an MA in Education from Hunter College, New York City, NY; a DTR from Rockland Community College, Suffern, NY; and an MS in Human Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, CT.
