Veterans Honor Society Inducts 5 New Members at RCC
College holds SALUTE ceremony for fifth time

RAMAPO – Five new members joined SALUTE, the nation’s only academic honor society for veterans, today at Rockland Community College. Dr. Michael A. Baston, RCC President, presented the new members with their certificates and challenge coins at a ceremony in his office.

The inductees are: Joel Fermin of Haverstraw, a former Marine Corps corporal currently enrolled in the RCC Nursing program; Robert Henry of New City, an ex-Marine corporal who served in Afghanistan and is now studying Business Administration at RCC; Zackary Leber, a former Army sergeant who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan and is now studying Computer Information Systems; Terence Siemon of Highland Falls, a former Army medic who deployed to Iraq and Haiti and is studying Nursing at RCC; and Kevin Walden of Haverstraw, an ex-Army specialist who deployed to Kuwait and is enrolled in RCC’s Liberal Arts/Sociology program.

The SALUTE organization was created in 2009 at Colorado State University, and RCC inducted its first members into the society just four years later. Nationally, more than 12,000 student veterans have become members of SALUTE. To learn more about the organization, visit www.salute.colostate.edu.
