RCC To Hold Info Sessions for Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice Info Session - November 14

Events are free and open to the public

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 27, 2018

RAMAPO, N.Y. – Studying Criminal Justice, Corporate and Homeland Security,  or Emergency Management (online degree only) can be the first step to an exciting career in public service. Rockland Community College has scheduled two Info Sessions where prospective students can get all the facts about these programs, as well as speak with faculty and discuss their academic and career path. The events are free and open to the public.

Criminal Justice Info Sessions
Wednesday, November 14, 5:30 – 6:30 pm
Monday, April 22, 2019, 5:30 – 6:30 pm
Both sessions at the Technology Center, Ellipse

A faculty member will give a teaching demonstration on how instructors interact with their students to learn together. All the professors in Criminal Justice are “pracademics” – that is, they have practical experience in the subject matter as well as an academic background. This combination makes for a well-rounded approach encompassing both practice and theory.

Students who attend RCC and obtain their associate's degree can either transfer to a four-year institution as juniors en route to their bachelor's degree, or they can apply for state and local police careers since they will have earned the 60 credits required to take police exams. A career in Criminal Justice enables students “to have a positive and tangible impact on others,” said Kevin Barrett, Ph.D., Chair/Associate Professor, Criminal Justice.

If you are unable to attend the Info Session but are still interested in pursuing a Criminal Justice major at RCC, please e-mail cjustice@sunyrockland.edu for further information.

For details about any Info Session event, contact RCC Admissions at 845-547-4224 or admissions@sunyrockland.edu.

Students enjoy a vibrant, diverse campus, with free tutoring, internship and career counseling, and on-site child care available. RCC offers online courses plus part-time, evening and weekend schedules.
