RCC to Hold 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

Ceremony to remember victims of September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks

ROCKLAND COUNTY, NY - Rockland Community College will hold a ceremony to commemorate the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The ceremony is open to the entire community.

Wednesday, September 11, 2019, 8:15 am
Ellipse, Technology Center, RCC Main Campus

During the ceremony there will be music for reflection, an Interfaith Message of Peace by Dr. Michael A. Baston, RCC President, reading of the Pledge of Allegiance by Thomas Leonard, Student Trustee, and singing of the National Anthem and Amazing Grace by Elise Espinosa, RCC student.

In a Remembering the Names observance, RCC student veterans will read the names of residents, former residents, relatives of residents, and other with connections to Rockland County who perished in the World Trade Center attacks and its aftermath. The following RCC student veterans will read for the Remembering of the Names:

Austin Miller, USN
David Howe, USMC
Dominick Pisano, USMC
Lejay Butler, USMC

The ceremony will conclude with Taps by Jared Profenna.

Attendees will have the opportunity to share their written reflections of the tragic event on postcards that will be displayed outside of the Ellipse.
