Two RCC Students Have Artwork Selected for Best of SUNY Show
Work to be displayed at State Museum
RAMAPO – A pair of Rockland Community College student artists will have their work included in the juried Best of SUNY Show, held each year in Albany. The artwork of Vanessa Reyes and Sara Ward will on exhibit at the New York State Museum beginning in June.
Both RCC students had self-portraits chosen for this prestigious show. Reyes’s work, entitled “Tiny Little Robots,” is a conté crayon drawing on paper, while Ward’s pastel painting is simply titled “Self-Portrait.” Lena Hyun, adjunct art faculty at RCC, curates and coordinates all the student submissions.
These SUNY art shows were founded in 2002 and are open to all SUNY students. Work is exhibited throughout the year at State University Plaza in Albany and the SUNY Global Center in NYC. Judging is conducted by SUNY art faculty, and a small group of works from the Fall and Spring shows are advanced to the Best of SUNY Show.
In addition to the opportunity for experience and recognition, the SUNY competition offers significant scholarship awards. Winners of this year’s scholarships will be announced prior to the opening of the show in June.
