RAMAPO, N.Y. – Rockland Community College has announced the appointment of Tom Cromer and Alexis Fibble as head coaches of the Hawks' men's and women's basketball programs, respectively. Cromer and Fibble come to RCC with strong backgrounds in coaching basketball on the high school level and aim to transfer their successful approaches to the college realm. RCC competes in the Mid-Hudson Conference and Region XV of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II.

Fibble played basketball for Western New England University in Springfield, Mass., graduating in 2003 with a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in sports management. After serving on the coaching staff at Western New England for a year, she accepted the varsity head coaching position at Chester Academy in Chester, N.H., which she held from 2004 to 2006. She then headed up the girls' basketball program at Suffern (N.Y.) High School for 11 years.

Fibble works for the Suffern Central School District as a facilitator in the curricula, technology, finance, purchasing and due diligence sectors of the district. She is responsible for implementing and overseeing a broad range of projects in the diverse and multicultural district. She resides in Suffern with her husband and daughter.

Cromer has an extensive, 21-year coaching résumé in scholastic basketball. A teacher and coach at Tappan Zee High School in Orangeburg, N.Y., Cromer led the boys' and girls' programs at Tappan Zee on both varsity and junior varsity levels. Most recently, as head coach of the  varsity girls' program, he piloted the Lady Dutchmen to three appearances in the Section 1 Final Four and one runner-up finish in the championship game. Cromer resides in Nanuet, N.Y.

RCC's men's team is coming off a subpar 3-21 season while the women's squad won one of seven games in a truncated campaign.

“We are delighted to welcome Alexis and Tom to our coaching staff and to RCC,” said Dan Keeley, RCC's Director of Athletics. “Both have a wealth of experience in their respective positions and are eminently qualified to direct our programs. With their expertise and passion for the game, we anticipate a revitalization of the Hawks' men's and women's basketball programs and the beginning of an exciting new chapter in the programs' history.”
