Bobby Deitch Band to Perform Sneak Preview Concert at RCC

RAMAPO: Local music fans will get a special treat on March 18 when The Bobby Deitch Band presents a sneak preview of its upcoming album. The band will bring its uplifting, original soul music to the Cultural Arts Theater at Rockland Community College.

Fronted by RCC Music faculty member Bobby Deitch, the group will perform songs from its debut album, “Grateful,” which is due to be released next month. Based out of Nyack, the band counts Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, The Beatles and Earth, Wind and Fire among its musical influences.

The general public is invited to the show. Tickets are $10 and will be sold the day of the event. The concert is a fundraiser for Performing Arts programs at RCC.

The Bobby Deitch Band is comprised of Bobby Deitch (songwriter/lead vocalist/keyboard/guitar), Eddy Bishai (keyboard, vocals), Joe “Mamma” Carpentieri (drums, vocals), Scott Reeves (guitar, vocals), and Dave Reiss (bass, vocals). At the March 18 concert, the band will be joined by vocalists Denise Deitch and Natasha May DiMarco, and guest saxophonist Baron Raymonde.

The concert serves as a preview of the band’s official album release party, which will take place at the legendary Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City on April 11. Among the musicians who contributed to “Grateful” is Deitch’s son, Adam, drummer for the popular funk band Lettuce. Other collaborators include Adam’s Lettuce bandmates Nigel Hall, Eric Krasno and Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff; George Porter Jr., bassist for legendary funk band The Meters; and Nikki Glaspie, a percussionist who performed with Beyonce’s touring band.
