Rockland Community College Celebrates
Jewish Heritage Month

Ramapo - The Center for Jewish Life at Rockland Community College presents an exciting series of events to celebrate Jewish heritage. The events, held between the Jewish holidays of Purim and Passover, include presentations on the Jewish community of Denmark and on the clandestine operation to bring Holocaust survivors to Israel; a paint party, a yoga workshop, a lecture on sexuality, a theater workshop, drum circle, culinary contest and more.

All events are open to the public and free of charge unless otherwise indicated. Kosher refreshments served.  For information, contact Rabbi Dov Oliver at 845-574-4422.

The Story of the Danish Jews: Influence, Rescue and Survival
Presented by Charlotte Thalmay, director of Jewish Copenhagen.

Discover the important influence of the Jews in Denmark; learn about the Holocaust-era rescue of 7,000 Danish Jews; discuss today’s situation for Danish Jewry.

Lecture and film, “A Hero’s Story of Aliyah Bet”
Paul Kaye, American WWII naval veteran, returned to Europe in 1947 to volunteer for Aliyah Bet, the clandestine immigration of thousands of Holocaust refugees on ships through the British blockage to safe haven in Israel. Hear firsthand his dramatic story.
