Ramapo- All are welcome to enjoy The Gift of Music: Composers of the African Diaspora, an exciting multi-media musical presentation in the Cultural Arts Theater at Rockland Community College, one night only.
Enjoy classical, blues, ragtime, gospel, jazz and more on a musical journey tracing the rich heritage of contributions by composers of the African Diaspora. Hear the music of Andraé Crouch, Samuel Coleridge Taylor, Florence Price, Muddy Waters, Bessie Smith, Clara Ward, Scott Joplin, Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, Nina Simone, Robert Petway and more.
Guest artists include the Rockland Conservatory of Music Jazz Group, Carl Burnett, Kris Carmello, Shirley Crabbe, Suzzanne Douglas, Adam Gloc, Veronica Greene, Tara Hooker, Erica Kaplan, Sam Waymon, and talented RCC Performing Arts students.

The Gift of Music: Composers of the African Diaspora is presented to the community by the African American Historical Society of Rockland County in collaboration with RCC Performing Arts and the RCC African American History Month Committee and made possible with a grant from the Town of Ramapo. An accompanying photo exhibit is on display in the Technology Center.
