April 28 – RCC Invites All to Donate Life with the Big Idaho Potato Truck
free and open to the public

Ramapo: Donate Life at Rockland Community College’s special health and donor awareness event, Thursday, April 28, as the Big Idaho Potato Truck visits campus to help spread the message. Nationally recognized transplant and organ donor activist Roxanne Watson, a graduate of RCC, was instrumental in arranging this first ever visit of the 72’ popular sensation to Rockland County, as it travels cross-country promoting a heart-healthy diet.

April is National Donate Life Month, and President of RCC, Cliff L. Wood, EdD, encourages all members of the community to participate in this event, saying, “We are so proud of the work Roxanne does, and we support every opportunity to help raise awareness for this worthwhile cause.”

LiveOnNY, and WomenHeart are among the many organizations and public officials participating in the event. Activities include DJ music, Performing Arts, vendors, games, blood pressure and other health screening, and opportunities to learn more and register with the New York State donor registry. Watson has been an inspiring and relentless advocate, dedicating what she calls her “second life,” to this cause since receiving her 2010 life-saving heart transplant and her gratitude to the donor, Michael Blain Bovill, and his family.
