“Midnight Madness” for RCC Basketball Teams
celebration of the start of the new season is free and open to the public

RAMAPO – Rockland Community College will host the first-ever “Midnight Madness” event for its basketball teams on October 6—with a twist. The RCC men’s and women’s teams will hold the celebration of the start of their new seasons not at midnight, but at the family-friendly hour of 8:00 pm.

RCC Basketball Midnight Madness
Friday, October 6
8 – 9:30 pm
Eugene Levy Fieldhouse
145 College Road, Suffern, NY 10901

Students, staff and the general public are invited to attend. The free event will feature plenty of excitement, including an alumni basketball game, a three-point shooting contest and a dunk contest.

RCC’s new basketball coaching staff decided to hold Midnight Madness as a way to build excitement for the upcoming season on campus and in the local community. Grant Valentine III is the new men’s head coach, while Kevin Philius takes the reins of the women’s team. Both RCC squads will take part in this special event.

Midnight Madness usually takes place just after midnight on the first day that college basketball teams are permitted to hold practice. The tradition began in 1971 at the University of Maryland, and was later adopted by other big-time basketball programs.
