to the home page for the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL). CETL is the umbrella organization for all professional development on the RCC campus. Fall 2006 marked its opening in its own space atop the new Technology Building. Programming is planned by the CETL Director under the guidance of the CETL Advisory Board.
Scholar-in-Residence
We are fortunate to have, as our scholar-in-residence, Dr. Edmund W. Gordon, the Richard March Hoe Professor Emeritus of Psychology and Education and Director of the Institute of Urban and Minority Education, (IUME), at Teachers College, Columbia University. He is with us on the RCC campus two days a week and plans an ongoing lecture series on human diversity and pedagogy.
Campus Activities
Other activities sponsored by CETL include professional development workshops offered on campus during several periods of the year, individual assistance with the use of technology in the classroom, and outside speakers and workshop leaders on issues important to the larger college community.
Support
CETL makes professional development funding available for attendance at conferences, presents professional development workshops and provides mentoring for new and non-tenured faculty. In addition, CETL staff provide individual support for faculty use of technology in the classroom.
CETL Library
CETL is also building a collection of books and journals related to pedagogy and professional development, and we are archiving on DVD every workshop and lecture that CETL sponsors.
The Center aims to provide ongoing and comprehensive opportunities for growth and development of the faculty and staff. CETL is a center for us all; please let us know your ideas.
