Disability Support Services

Rockland Community College is committed to providing full access to all programs, services, and facilities for qualified individuals with disabilities, as mandated by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

Disability Support Services

Services and accommodations are not automatic. It is the responsibility of the student or prospective student to notify Accessibility Services of the need for accommodations and to provide appropriate written documentation of the disability by a qualified professional. Accommodations can only be provided after appropriate documentation is received by Accessibility Services and the student has met with the office staff to discuss needed accommodations.

This voluntary self-identification is independent from the admissions process and all disability records are confidential and kept separately in Accessibility Services.

Students with disabilities are, therefore, encouraged to meet with the Accessibility Services staff before registration. The student will be assisted with course selection and accommodation and will also receive information about many other campus resources. A brochure outlining the office services is available as are the policies and procedures for students with disabilities.

The office works to assure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. For further information, call 845-574-4541.
